Our Story

It started with a simple rice ball and a childhood memory.

Growing up, our grandma would make us chunky onigiri with ume plum, a little salt and nori to take to baseball training during the summer holidays. Simple food, but a memory that stayed with us.

Years later, when our parents moved to southern part of Japan Okinawa, we discovered a different style of onigiri — wrapped more like a sandwich. We loved the idea of taking something so traditional and giving it a fresh, modern feel.

Okinawa’s unique East meets West culture became a big part of the inspiration behind Onirazu — bringing together Japanese tradition, simple modern flavours and the ingredients we love.

We wanted to create a neighbourhood spot where we could explore another side of Japanese food.

And that’s Onirazu.

Japanese rice sandwiches, good coffee and simple great food made for everyday life.
